Environment, Health & Safety - Responsibilities
Safety is the concern of all employees and, in addition, certain groups within Maintenance Essentials have specific responsibilities as follows;
Supervisors/Managers (any person who controls or directs others)
Supervisors are required, in association with appropriate personnel and the Environment Health and Safety Committee, to formulate and promulgate specific safety rules for activities conducted within areas under their control.
Employees
Each employee of Maintenance Essentials is responsible for ensuring that his or her work practices reflect good environment, occupational health and safety practices in order to protect their own health, safety and environment as well as the health, safety and environment of others. In addition, all employees;
- must take all reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their conduct at the workplace;
- must not wilfully or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health and safety or welfare and must co-operate with the Maintenance Essentials in relation to actions taken by the Maintenance Essentials to comply with environment, occupational health and safety legislation;
- must not wilfully place at risk the health and safety of any person in the workplace.
Contractors
All contractors are required to undergo appropriate induction training. Contractors must adhere to all contractual requirements, policies and procedures of Maintenance Essentials in relation to environment, health and safety.
Visitors
Visitors are required to comply with all instructions given by authorised Maintennace Essentials staff for the protection of their health and safety whilst visiting Maintenance Essentials premises.
