AS1851-2005 Amendment No 2 DRAFT

Well its out today, the first public draft of Amendment No. 2 of Australian Standard AS1851-2005.

This draft is 18 pages long and includes many changes that people involved in the Maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment should consider carefully.

The summary of the draft reads as follows;

SUMMARY: This Amendment applies to the inside front cover, the title page, the Preface table, Clauses 1.5.3, 1.5.14 (new), 1.5.15 (new), 1.5.16 (new), 1.9, 1.15.2, 1.15.5, 1.16 (new), 2.2.1.1, 2.2.1.3, 3.2.1, 17.4.3.1, 18.2.2, 18.2.3 and 19.4.1(a) and Tables 1.15, 2.4.1.1, 2.4.1.2, 2.4.1.3, 2.4.2.1, 2.4.2.2, 2.4.2.3, 3.4.2.1, 4.4.1, 4.4.2, 4.4.3, 6.4.1, 6.4.2, 7.4.1, 7.4.2, 9.4.1, 9.4.2, 10.4.1, 10.4.2, 11.4.1, 11.4.2, 15.4.1, 15.4.2, 18.4.1.5, 18.4.2.2, 18.4.2.3, 19.4.1 and 19.4.2 and Appendix C.

Originally Standards/FP-001 has targeted to publish this amendment on August 15, 2007 so obviously its taken a little longer than planned.

According to my sources, if there are no responses or objections to the draft by "...the close of business on Friday 8 February 2008, we shall assume you have no objection to the attached draft being published." so if there are problems then you had better say something before Feb 8, 2008.

Over the next few days, I'll try and write an article to explore each amendment in more detail..
